Marcelle FERRON

(1924-2001)

Biography:
1946 Joined the group of painters known as the Automatistes. She was one of the youngest signatories of the Refus global manifesto in 1948.    

1953 Moves to France for the next 13 years and spends time with fellow artists Léon Bellefleur, Jean Lefébure, Edmund Alleyn and Jean-Paul Riopelle.
1966 Returns to Quebec.
1983 The first woman to receive the Prix Paul-Èmile-Borduas.
